Compound
What is it?
Compounds are substances made from at least two kinds of atoms or molecules. The elements that form a compound can not be separated by physical means (heating, cooling, etc.) -- only by a chemical reaction.
Give me an example!
Compounds are all around you! When you breathe in air, your lungs take in oxygen and breathe out carbon dioxide (CO2), a compound made of carbon and oxygen. When you sit down at the dinner table, you may reach for the salt shaker -- it's full of another compound, sodium chloride (NaCl).
