Dispersion

Dispersion

What is it?

Dispersion is when light is split into many different visible
wavelengths by refraction.

Give me an example!

Have you ever wondered where rainbows come from? Rainbows are created when light from the sun passes through clouds and becomes refracted and is dispersed, or split into different wavelengths. You can create a rainbow by shining a light at a prism, which splits the light into several colors by refracting it as it passes through.
