Function
What is it?
Every architectural structure has a function, or purpose. The function of most structures is to support other structures, the way a foundation supports the building above it.
In computer programming language, a function is a command the computer must perform.
Give me an example!
Have you ever looked at how the blocks of stone in stone arches are arranged? The block in the very center and at the top is shaped differently than the others. This is called the keystone and it is cut and fitted to perform a specific function - to support the stones on either side of it and thus hold up the arch.
