Lattice

Lattice

What is it?

A lattice is the pattern in which
atoms or ions of a substance are bound together. Lattices are easy to see in crystaline systems (or crystals).

Give me an example!

Have you ever noticed how differently shaped snowflakes are? That's because of variations in their individual crystal lattices. If they all crystallized in the same pattern, it would be like grains of salt falling from the sky every time it snows!
