Volume

Volume

What is it?

Volume is the amount of
space occupied by a solid object or a liquid. Volume is measured in cubes, such as cubic inches, cubic milimeters (called mililitres), or cubic meters. Imagine filling the space an object takes up with little cubes and then counting them to find its volume.

Give me an example!

A gallon is a common unit used to measure volume, such as a gallon of milk or antifreeze. A gallon is made up of four quarts. Get an empty gallon milk jug and an empty quart milk carton. Fill the quart carton with water and pour it into the gallon jug. Do this four times and the jug will be filled with water, proving that there are four quarts in a gallon.
