Heat of Fusion

Heat of Fusion

What is it?

Heat of fusion is the change in
enthalpy (or heat) needed to convert one mole of a substance from a solid to a liquid at its melting point.

Give me an example!

When a solid substance reaches its heat of fusion, the bonds that hold its
molecules together in a solid structure break down and it becomes a liquid. You might say that the bonds are no longer fused together at the heat of fusion.
