Endothermic

Endothermic

What is it?

Endothermic reactions are
chemical reactions that must absorb heat in order to occur. Once the heat source is removed, the reaction ceases. Endothermic is the opposite of exothermic.

Give me an example!

Have you ever melted the cheese on a sandwich in a microwave oven? After you took the sandwich out of the oven, did the cheese cool down again? If you let it cool down long enough, the cheese would become pretty much like it was before you melted it, in terms of consistency, right? That's an example of a reaction that absorbs heat -- an endothermic reaction.
