Vorticity

Vorticity

What is it?

Vorticity is a
vector quantity that represents the curl (or rotation) that acts on a particle drawn into a vortex.

Give me an example!

A common example of a vortex is water going down a drain. Instead of just flowing down in a straight line, the water molecules spin into a swirling vortex. If you were to map out the exact motion of these molecules, they would have one vector that is called vorticity.
